Mental illness is not always seen as a proper illness and we as a society need to ensure that proper services are provided, especially in regional areas where suicide amongst young men is prevalent.

In January this year, my beautiful brother James took his life. He had been struggling for some time, but we didn't see the signs that he was this close to ending his life. I never thought that I would be reading the eulogy for one of my siblings and the effect that his death would have on all those who knew him. Suicide prevention must be a priority for those suffering with mental illness and more needs to be done to help those living with depression. More services and facilities are needed to ensure accurate diagnosis and help to families before this happens to them. James was a loving son, father, husband and brother. James was talented and beautiful on the inside with a smile that could light a room. He was a great mate and is missed by many. We want to get the word out that this is not the answer, there is always someone who loves you.
